EGYM Merges with Mindbody, ClassPass Parent in $7.5B Deal to Leverage AI

EGYM merges with Playlist to integrate software, hardware, and AI-driven personalized experiences, aiming to improve engagement and retention.

EGYM is merging with Playlist, the parent company of Mindbody, ClassPass, and Booker, in a massive $7.5B deal. This merger creates a full-stack wellness entity backed by major investors like Affinity Partners and Vista.

The new entity integrates software, connected hardware, consumer booking, and workplace well-being. According to Playlist CEO Fritz Lanman, the merger creates an opportunity to reimagine fitness and wellness, using “AI to improve utilization, engagement, and retention” across partners, employers, and consumers.

The strategy pairs EGYM’s smart strength equipment and adaptive AI training with Playlist’s discovery and booking interfaces. This move signifies a major shift towards connecting fitness, wellness, and healthcare through data and personalized AI experiences.
